That I May Know Him

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

“I’ll get to Heaven my way”

No, you won’t, don't kid yourself. All manners of people do all kinds of things hoping to make it to Heaven.

You know what the Bible calls those people?

A THIEF and a ROBBER

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

When you want to get into somebody's home, basically, you've got one of two choices. You will either go in the proper way - invited through the door, OR you will break your way in. A welcomed person will come in through the door. If it is 4 a.m., and you hear a strange noise coming from the kitchen window, that ain't grandma comin' over to fix apple pie!! That’s a thief and a robber. And how will the owner of the house treat the thief and the robber? I can assure you He will not consider the thief and robber his friend - he is his enemy and the man of the house will seek to cast out the intruder.

Simple. You either come in through the door or you're a thief and a robber and, as such, will be cast out.

Heaven is God's dwelling place – it’s God’s home. Every home has a door. The door to God's home has a name – Jesus Christ.

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Face it. You will not make it to heaven "your way". Your way leads to the lake of fire, but His way leads to Heaven.

It is amazing to hear the arrogance of people who say that.

I like that post, I never thought of someone as a theif or a robber... I just looked at the situation as that someone is either ignorant or rebellious.

Matthew, I think you nailed it. It sure is arrogance, and I don't understand it.

Thanks sweet Danielle. The words of Jesus are clear. Those who think they can get their way to Heaven are thieves and robbers. Jesus is good with exposing people for who they truly are.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Danielle. Miss you lots.

That is so true. It may take a while, but the true colors will eventually be brought to the light, by The Light :-)

Have a wonderful evening, lil sis.

    God's Grace.

Sarah, Great post and I loved the Grandma and the pie reference. I almost shot diet pepsi all over the computer. I also love the parallel you made between the theif verses and entering heaven. So many try every other avenue rather than Jesus and the salvation he offers. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Hi Corry. Thank you for your comment, you're so sweet! I like that: brought to the light by the Light. Amen!

Danielle, I can snap a few pics from my cell, if you'd like. Or better it, if you want to see us in the new house, then COME AND SEE us! :) I had a great time with u in the summer, but it was too short a visit. :(

Hi Amy! Glad I made u laugh a little. Amen, He is the way, the truth and the life, and you do a great job giving Him all the glory. Your posts have been such a blessing.

You are correct Sarah! But you know, there may even be a little more to this passage. To me it seems that not only is He referring to any who try to make it to Heaven any other way as thieves & robbers, but also that all others who claim to be "saviors" or "christs" are also thieves & robbers, attempting to steal His place as the only Way! Of course, they'll NEVER do it, just as any trying to make it to Heaven some other way never will. Scripture is so powerful & full! We'll never exhaust its full meaning!! God Bless & thanx fer listening!

Hi David. Amen, that is very true. I didn't think of that. As I read your comment, I couldn't help but think of the pope who blasphemes the Holy Spirit by saying he is God's representative on earth. Of course, he's not the only one. Our Lord warned us of such anti-christs. They too are thieves and robbers and will NOT make it to Heaven.

Isn't it great though, that those whose sins have been wahsed in the blood of the Lamb have a home in Heaven for sure. That is news worthy of praise.

Thank you for visiting this blog, and for your comment. God bless,
    Sarah
