That I May Know Him

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

Don’t quit, keep on sowing

One of the easiest things for any of us to do when it seems like nothing is going our way, is for us to just give up and QUIT on God. That's right, just "throw in the towel" and walk away. What is really ugly is that the enemy will always be there, ever ready to pat us on the back and console us with, "you have good excuse to quit, you did your best”.

The one thing giving up will NOT give you is peace. The decision to quit on God will haunt you till the day you repent. You will be plagued with what might have been had you only persevered and waited on the Lord.

We have a race to run and we are running for an incorruptible prize. If we are going to make it, we must ENDURE to the END. It takes great effort to be a winner. As Paul said “and let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, IF we faint not.” Paul wanted those he was addressing in his letter to the Galatians to know he realized the struggles they would have to face, and that they might even get tired of living right. He, however, wanted to admonish them to "keep on keeping on" for God: he wanted them to "stick with it" and keep on sowing the precious word that they might reap and bring lost souls to Christ.

Sarah, This reminds me of the verses in Hebrews where Jesus endured the cross, but is now seated at God's right hand. There are some things you may have to endure to get to the place of rejoicing. I think many times we give up right before the blessings are about to be poured out on us. Great post; You have encouraged me once again. :)

With regards to your post, I was talking to my math teacher about Christ at lunch today, and she wants to hear more! Please pray that the Lord would open up her heart and give me the words to speak (sorry auntie--i don't have tracts to give her)

Amen Sarah, great thoughts! It is true that if the enemy cannot get you to compromise, he will try to get you to quit. And he will use everything in his power to try to stop you. It is well pleasing to our Lord when, in spite of all that may come our way, we keep pressing on. It DOES get hard at times, and our strength will sometimes fail...but thank God that when it does, our Lord is there to carry us through.

I have an outline for a sermon I have never preached that is entitled "Don't Quit!" It goes something like this...

    Don't Quit....

    I. Your Foes Are Watching You

II. Your Friends Are Watching You

III. Your Family Is Watching You

IV. Your Father is Watching You

Luke 18:1 "......men ought always to pray, and not to faint"

Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

    Amen.

    Leonard, thanks.

Amy, very well said. I didn't think of that! Your posts have been such a blessing to me, I've learned a lot from you.

Joe, Amen!! Will pray for you and for your teacher. hihi, you know your auntie well - I'll let her answer you. Although, Joe, I would encourage you to give her a gospel tract. She will see the Bible verses for herself. You're doing a great job, though. ;)

Hi Bryan, that is a great outline. I would encourage you to preach it. Your preachings have a "revival" effect with me, and I'm sure it's the same with all those who've heard you preach.

    Hey Matthew, thanks!

    Indeed Sarah.
I realize we are not sowing as much as we used to but Lord willing we will be back in business soon.

Joe, I am putting some tracts in the mail for you. hahahaha.

Back to the subject of sowing the seed. I am happy tonight for upon leaving church I stopped at a nearby grocery shop to buy a couple of items. Two men were standing outside talking in Armenian. All Armenians speak English. So without wasting any time, I greeted them (who were surprised at first)and handed them copies of the invitation to our upcoming revival with Pastor Sowell. One of the men rejoiced for he turned out to be a Baptist born-again Christian. I hope he comes and brings others with him. Oh it feels so good when you do not quit.

Genesis (Joe?), you can get as many FREE tracts sent to you by contacting the Fellowship Tract League". Just look around on the site, find the tract or tracts you want, tell them how many, and they will send them right to your front door. I ordered 5000 tracts a couple of years ago...for free. I gave them a love offering for printing more, but they will send you as many as you want.

Mom, that is great! He even turned out to be a Baptist. Working for the Lord is so rewarding - it brings us so much JOY and so much excitement. I cannot wait for the revival with Pastor Sowell!!

Bryan, thanks for writing back to Joe (Genesis). Joe is my coolest cousin / my mother's nephew. His fam and him live in sunny California and they're all saved, praise the Lord!
