That I May Know Him

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

HELL

I know this isn't a pleasant subject, but I'm just astounded by the number of false religion, even some self proclaimed Christians which do not believe in Hell. They have deeply fallen in the lie that Hell is either unexistant or that hell is simply this present life on earth. How false!

My Pastor brings about a good point. If you do not believe in Hell, then what are you saved from?

What prompted this string of thoughts is found in 2 Samuel 22:6:

2Sa 22:6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me.

David knew His God and, therefore, knew the truth and grim reality of Hell. God is love, true, but God is also righteous Justice and a righteous Judge. Sin must be punished. God's love and Justice compensate each other in Romans 6:23 (For the wages of sin is death, but the girft of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord)

Hell is a real and physical place, much like Heaven. Heaven is above and Hell is beneath. The wicked shall meet their destruction in Hell. Our authors in the Old Testament knew this very well. Here are but a few verses, for there are far too many to be quoted all:

Job 11:8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?

Psa 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Psa 55:15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

Psa 86:13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

Pro 15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Eze 31:16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit.

And so many more. Jesus Christ, the greatest preacher ever known to man, came to save sinners from their sins, as to not meet their end in Hell, but have everslating life.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

That salvation is brought about by God's precious Grace, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.

Jesus did it all and cried It is Finished.

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

It is not a lie, it is the truth. We are all sinners (Rom. 3:23), and unless we put on the righteousness of Christ Jesus we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is simple:

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Saved from what? Saved from the slavery of sin which has condemned our soul deep into Hell.

Act 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.
