That I May Know Him

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

God worketh in us…through His Word

Philippians 2:13 says it is God that worketh in us, but how can we know for sure that it is HE that is working in us? Well, it dawned on me that the answer is pretty simple, we can know by God’s Word. This is one reason why there has been such a falling away in Christianity these last days. Preachers have let go of sound teaching, sound doctrine, of studying and of reading the Word of God, and some have even let go of preaching altogether!

It is God's way of working in us. God works in us, but He works in us through His Word. We are living in a Christian world where "emotionalism" gives us assurance. It is going over so big, you know, “I feel this”, and “I feel that”, whereas “I KNOW this” and “I KNOW that”, because God’s Word says so.

True Christian living calls for daily searching and studying of God's Word. The flesh wants to work in us, the devil wants to work in us, and the world wants to work a work in us, but the only way we can keep God working in us is by the Word of God. The flesh has deceived us on the fact that God will work in us even if we do not read. How untrue!

We want God to work in us every way except, well, God’s WAY. We read in 1 Thessalonians 2:13 "For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." An thus we have assurance that God works in us, through His WORD!

Yes, amen and amen. Our preacher just preached on this topic for Sunday School. He used 2 Thessalonians 2 and the verse you quoted, and preached on LOVING the truth. That Book, as powerful as it is, will only work "effectually" in those that BELIEVE it. Great post!

By the way, did you change anything on your site, because i have been getting a message lately that says "Do you want to display insecure items?" What are these items?

hey joe. yeh, I know it’s seriously annoying, but that’s the new blogger. Just keep on clicking yes, that's what I do for other "blogger beta" sites. Sorry about that!

Hi Sarah. I noticed that since you switched to the new Blogger, the title of your page is cut off at the top. Mine was too when I switched. If you go into your template and look near the beginning, you will see the following line. REMOVE it, and save your template, and your title will show up all the way.

At least that's what I did, and it worked. Try it out.....here is what to remove (remove EVERYTHING you see below, not just the line with the *****, but even the stuff about "height", etc.):

/************** REMOVE THIS TO UNHIDE THE BLOGGER NAVBAR ****************
    **/ #b-navbar {height:0px;visibility:hidden;display:none} /**
    *************************************************************************

    Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your help. I didn't find that line in my template. I attempted "control, find", but came up empty. I tried something else, though.

Funny thing is, that from my laptop, the template is fine, but from my work computer, the title cuts off at the top. And since I'm at home now, I cannot tell whether it's fixed or not. lol, will find out tomorrow. :)
