That I May Know Him

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29

One of my many favorite Hymns!

Tell me the Story of Jesus

Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth.
“Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth.”

Refrain
Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.

Fasting alone in the desert,
Tell of the days that are past.
How for our sins He was tempted,
Yet was triumphant at last.
Tell of the years of His labor,
Tell of the sorrow He bore.
He was despised and afflicted,
Homeless, rejected and poor.

Refrain

Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
Writhing in anguish and pain.
Tell of the grave where they laid Him,
Tell how He liveth again.
Love in that story so tender,
Clearer than ever I see.
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
Love paid the ransom for me.

How beautiful! I'm yet to learn this one.I know a few other Fanny Crosby hymns. I read a book about her life earlier in the year & was amazed to learn she'd written thousands of hymns- some published under other names.

Beautiful. Haven't sang this one in a long time. Thanks for making me meditate on the wordson a day like this when the words are particularly touching seeing how good the Lord has been to me, and to us as a family.

Hi Claire! Fanny Crosby hymns comes from the soul. She was God-gifted, that is for certain. Our song leader often mentions that she felt blessed since the first person her eyes will ever behold, is the Lord Himself!!

Mom, the Lord has given us an amazing year. I love how he works everything out beautifully, in His time.
