That I May Know Him

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29

People dressed up quite a bit at work and were encouraged to do so. The office was decorated with skeletons and spider webs and so forth, too. When I heard one co-worker (who wears a pentagram) declare that it was a religious holiday for her I decided that I would certainly not dress up. I had been thinking about whether or not I would before that (I haven't done it since high school anyway) and decided that I would buy candy to give away and leave it at that. There is some pretty wretched stuff that goes on for sure, and I would rather not be identified with it.

oh wow, that's just scary. Good on you, Angie, you really made the right decision. Would not want to be associated with that kind of stuff, that's for sure!

It's real nice to see you here, by the way :)

We have some King James only, Bible believing Baptists here in our town that dress their kids up in costumes and go "trick or treating"...and they make fun of those of us who don't. I wonder if they would celebrate this day if it was called "Satan's Day"?

      Strange.

What a shame, how can you hold a KJV in one hand, and with the other dress up your child for such an evil day...

I think it is a result of Satan's normal M.O. - dress something evil up as "harmless" and "fun". So much so that even believers sometimes are fooled. On the surface, it is harmless and fun but dig a little deeper, and you find out that it IS an official religious holiday for wiccans and pagans. Christians have tried to reform this pagan holiday (much like Christmas). However, the difference is that Christmas was a successful (for the most part) reformation while this attempt at reformation failed miserably.
