And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

Nice! Both California and New York have those laws. It doesn't stop people from smoking, though. They just do it outside or in their cars or homes. It's one of the reasons I always have the windows in my car closed and the air inside recirculated regardless of the outside temperature. I greatly dislike the smell of smoke. Ick.

lol, same here, I think it's one of my pet peeves. I am so glad that they finally instituted this law, they kept on postponing it.
I know it won't stop people from smoking. I heard that some people are opening up businesses in their own homes. They offer drinks and smokes. When there's a will, there's always a way.

I have mixed feelings about smoking bans. They are not such a bad thing, though.
God Bless

Good seatings and no smelling.
Matthew, I am curious to know why you have mixed feelings. Do you think that there are pros and cons?

Matthew,
I don't understand you.

I do not like laws that restrict people's choices. I think there is a good reason for not allowing smoking in public, but all the same, it does seem a little authoritarian.
The laws of the Old Testament did not restircit people's behaviour half as much as the laws we have in the UK. Sure, they outlawed homosexuality and other things, but they allowed people to run their own lives mostly. People cannot learn responsibility when governments run their lives.
However, smoking is very unhealthy, so I am not really against smoking bans.
Every Blessing in Christ
Matthew

That's great! I also dislike cigarette smoke, although I must admit I do like the musty smell of an English pub. Don't ask me why.
Smoking is very bad for your health. Take it from someone who comes from a family with smokers. My older brother (age 29) has been trying to quit for years. Mom smoked in her twenties and is paying for it now in her fifties with chronic bronchitis. Bad things.

Matthew, I also see your point.
Carey, I do hope your brother quits smoking soon. By God's grace, may he also come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
That's what I always tell the girls at the office (they're almost all smokers). They will pay for it with their health.
As for your mom, I shall pray that gives her good health. Can't wait to meet your mommy some day. I bet she's as cute as you are!!!!

I like smoking bans for my own personal health and comfort. I know what Matthew means, though. If I were a business owner I might not like it. If I were a smoker I would hate it. As I am neither I like it for very selfish reasons.

In this case, I think it's ok to be selfish. I am too, lol :)
