And Thy House
This is a very familiar salvation verse. Often times, we quote it "believe on the Lord Jesus Chirst, and thou shalt be saved". But I was thinking about this last night. The verse goes on to say and thy house.
We are called children of light.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 1Th 5:5
Therefore, we let our light shine brightly and testify that Jesus Christ is the Saviour King.
Here is a woman who got saved, and her house:
And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. Acts 16:14-15

It is interesting that the pattern of Acts is that evangelism is directed at the heads of households. Their families then become converted.
These days the strategy is reversed. So much evangelism is directed at children and young people in the hope that their parents will be converted after them.
Is the modern way following God's order?

Hum, you bring up an interesting point.
But I do think that this is what we are trying to accomplish when we go street preaching and tract passing.
I also belive in taining up our children to walk right with the Lord with such programs as Awana that reach out to young kids and teenagers.
We must not neglect any area in our evangelism.

That is certainly true, Sarah.
However, I think I am suspicous of the huge emphasis that many churches palce on evangelizing young people. While we need to make use of opportunities that we have to witness to children and young people, directing evangelism so much in this direction seems to subvert God's order.
Many churches seem to put huge amounts of effort into reaching unchurched children and young people, while doing absolutley nothing to reach adults.
There seems to be a bizarre idea that children ought to convert their parents, rather than parents teaching their children the ways of the Lord.

Yes, I agree.
But then again, this whole world is upside down, and sadly, so are many churches.
Instead of church and Christians today teaching the World to observe the Word of God, we are picking up a lot from the world!
Remember the St-Patricks's parade? One of the men passing out tracts wih us got saved probably 5 years ago. He said to me "and to think I used to bring my young kids here".
That's nice. He now brings his children to church and both kids are saved!

that is indeed an interesting point Matthew.
Althoug I don't know that so much more is directed at children given some statistics i've only heard.
Redeemed, next verse says
And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
