That I May Know Him

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

Unclean

~Lev 10:10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean.

In the book of Leviticus, the people of Israel are taught by the Lord God that certain things are unclean. It would be much too long to quote all the Scriptures on this. However, as written in the above-mentioned verse, there is a difference between holy and unholy and between clean and unclean.

If the people at the time were to touch or to eat any of the unholy things decreed by the Lord, they would automatically be unclean and had to stay in such condition until a certain period of time. Also, they were to go to the priest who would then tell them what to do (or what sacrifice to offer unto the Lord) that their sins may be forgiven. I know that is a lot more to this that I have not memorized, but I will admit that I have not studied the book of Leviticus, and yes, I will also admit, I find the book difficult to read. Yet, somehow, the Lord showed me a lesson from His book of Leviticus to convict me and to better my walk with Him.

Now God had chosen Israel that they may be a peculiar people and above any other nation.

~Deu 14:2 For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

We also, in this dispensation, have been called to be a peculiar people.

~Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Though we may be under Grace and not under the law (Amen) as were the Jews at the time of the Prophets, we also are commanded to keep ourselves CLEAN. What can be unclean for us? How about the movies we watch, the music we listen to, and the books we read. The devil is presently in charge of all these things; remember that He is (for now) the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2). All these things we do, and much too often justify, they cannot possibly be good for our walk with the Lord. They are all but filth, and they will slowly but surely corrupt our thoughts. Those are the wiles of the devil that keep us from fellowship with our Heavenly Father.

Other things that are UNCLEAN for us are the obvious sins that are mentioned numerous times in the New Testament.

~Gal 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

If we allow any of these things to rule over our flesh, or any other thing that can ultimately corrupt our thoughts, we are, can I say, unclean and certainly in disobedience towards God.

Now just like the Israelites went to their priest for their uncleanness, we also ought to go to our High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:14) for forgiveness of sins, and He will wash us from all unrighteousness and make us CLEAN.

~1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

It really is that simple; all we have to go is get on our knees with an upright heart and ask the Lord Jesus to forgive usall our sins, and to bring into light the secret faults that we may be unaware of, yet are displeasing unto Him. But only Jesus Christ can CLEANSE us from our uncleanness. Only He can sanctify and purify our thoughts. He is OUR High Priest, but this time, there is NO SACRIFICE that we could offer Him that would EVER BE GOOD ENOUGH. He fulfilled that part and no one else could do it, since He is the only Holy One, the blamelss lamb of God. We have the simple task of just asking for His forgiveness.

~1 Peter 2:21-25 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
